I still remember the moment I first heard Shira play the violin in our Berlin showroom.

I was overwhelmed.

Such strength, passion and expression in someone so young. Every note was filled with emotion and a remarkable inner confidence.

And when I looked at her, I saw a delicate young girl with a shy smile.

It was this contrast that stayed with me.

I wanted to create a couture gown for Shira that would not try to make her appear older than she was. A dress that would preserve her youth, her lightness and her natural grace, while expressing something of the extraordinary strength that lives within her music.

My thoughts wandered to the sea.

To the coral reefs hidden beneath the surface. To their delicate, almost fragile forms, their gentle colours and their astonishing resilience.

Corals possess a beauty all their own. They seem so delicate and still, yet they endure in a world where the water is never truly at rest.

I recognised something of Shira in them.

The sea, translated into fabric

For her bespoke concert gown, I chose an airy, powder-pink fabric adorned with intricate embroidery and three-dimensional appliqués.

The small, translucent details evoke corals gently swaying with the current. Between them, tiny sequins catch the light like sunbeams filtering through the water to the ocean floor.

The silhouette was to remain light and flowing. A gown full of movement, just like the music itself.

A thought of ballet

Yet in my imagination, the sea met another art form: classical ballet.

I thought of the delicate ribbons of a ballerina's pointe shoes, their graceful, precise lines and that seeming weightlessness which can only be achieved through extraordinary dedication and discipline.

I wanted Shira's gown to tell something of that story, too.

As the design gradually took shape in our Berlin couture atelier, I kept returning to the moment when Shira raises her violin.

To her concentration. To the first movement of the bow. To that instant when music emerges from complete silence.

Simply herself

When I finally saw her wearing the gown, violin in hand, I felt that everything had come together.

The music, the movement, the delicacy and that unexpected strength.

I did not want to create a dress that would transform Shira into someone else.

I wanted to create a dress in which she could simply be herself.

A young girl with great dreams, an extraordinary gift and a strength that is not immediately apparent.

For sometimes, the greatest strength lies within the most delicate things.
